12 April 2022, 6.30 pm
Moderated by Irene Angenica, Public Relations and Educational Activities Coordinator of MACRO, together with CASTRO Team.
The round table THE SCHOOL TO BE DONE stems from the homonymous intensive seminar which ran between the 4th and the 13th of April 2022 at MACRO by CASTRO in collaboration with the museum’s Department for Preventive Education.
During this first edition, the intensive seminar THE SCHOOL TO BE DONE gathered a group of students from academies and universities all over Italy to focus on the question “How do you imagine your ideal course?”.
The artistic duo Bik Van der Pol (composed by Liesbeth Bik and Jos van der Pol), Piero Golia and Cesare Pietroiusti have been invited to guide the discussion among participants through both a practical and a theoretical approac.
Each tutor is linked to different educational background: Bik Van der Pol founded the School of Missing Studies in Rotterdam and ran it in New York for a time; Piero Golia, founder of The Mountain School of Art in LA; Cesare Pietroiusti has been the coordinator of Progetto Oreste and is currently co-director of the Master MAP-PA in Rome.
THE SCHOOL TO BE DONE’s main purpose is to come up with a new academic curriculum designed y former students themselves. The seminar programme is designed to foster discussion and experimentation as well as contamination between participants and tutors through a non-hierarchical approach.
Over the ten days spent together in Rome, each tutor will lead a group session with their own personal approach to alternative learning and experimental training methods. Participants are asked to work towards a final document that describes their own, collectively conceived academic curriculum in detail.
The Agorà round table is held towards the end of the ten day seminar offering participants and tutors the opportunity to share main talking points and approaches opening the conversation up to the MACRO audience.
The event will take place on the Auditorium’s roof.
Free entrance until capacity is reached.
