In Teaching Community, bell hooks expands on the reflections about the future of education first explored in Teaching to Transgress, proposing a vision of education as a democratic practice. According to hooks, teaching can be a joyful and inclusive activity, but it must be thoroughly reimagined in order to meaningfully address discussions of race, gender, class, and nationality—beyond the narrow confines of the classroom.
