On Tuesday 19 March, CASTRO will host the presentation of the book ‘Ten Tickles, My Fancy’ by Madison Bycroft and edited by Guilhem Monceaux. The evening, with Madison Bycroft in conversation with Guilhem Monceaux, will include a reading of excerpts from the book and will be accompanied by a screening of the short film ‘The Fouled Compass’.
‘Ten Ticlkes, My Fancy’ is a documentation of a series of performances and films made between 2017 and 2021. The short film entitled ‘The Fouled Compass’ takes its name from Adrienne Rich’s 1973 poem, ‘Diving the Wreck’. The work takes floating as its starting point, however this departure is repeated and not directed towards a destination. It explores floating as a methodology of disorientation and practice of pleasure that is not goal-oriented, but rather fragmented, wandering, abstract and planktonic.
The talk is part of a series of events designed to activate CASTRO’s Alternative Education Library, an ever-growing library with contributions from local and international artists, researchers and curators who offer their perspectives and approaches to the topics of alternative education and radical pedagogy.
