PORTFOLIO REVIEWS are individual meetings with members of the CASTRO Team during which artists receive critical feedback on the presentation of their work. They provide an opportunity to engage in a meaningful dialogue and review both the structure and content of the artist’s portfolio.
The portfolio is an edited collection of an artist’s work in an anti-chronological order. It is a vital tool to formally present your work for funding applications, exhibitions, residencies and editorial projects. In addition to introducing one’s work to others, the portfolio is useful for the practitioners themselves to visualise the progression of their practice and build a professional identity.
During the meetings, we will review the layout and structure of the portfolio, give feedback on the organisation of the information and on the visual presentation, provide technical advice where required, and suggest references that are relevant to the artist’s work.
Portfolio Reviews are a valuable step in an artist’s professional development and contribute to building one’s own professional identity. They are thought in particular for University students and early-career artists but are open to anyone who thinks they might benefit from them.
How to book:
The reviews take place monthly at CASTRO. You can book a 1-hour appointment by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The appointments are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
What to provide in advance:
After booking your appointment, we will ask you to send us the most recent version of your portfolio, in PDF file, one week prior to the meeting. This will allow us the time to review the portfolio and prepare the feedback ahead of our meeting.
