Francesca Pionati


Francesca Pionati Francesca Pionati is an artist, researcher, and editor. Her research focuses on the aesthetic and political relationships between urban infrastructures, governance, and trauma. To develop her works, Pionati analyzes various forms of language and infrastructure through archival material, forensic investigations, interviews, and encounters. Her practice is closely linked to radical and collaborative pedagogies. Since 2020, Pionati has been collaborating with Tommaso Arnaldi as a member of the artist duo VEGA. In 2021, she co-founded the curatorial and research practice Iniziative di Il and co-initiated the annual publication Il Magazine, to explore paradoxes and methodologies in contemporary publishing. Francesca holds a degree in Art Praxis from the Dutch Art Institute. Her works and projects have been presented at MACRO Museum, MA*GA Museum, Triennale Milano, Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome, Manifattura Tabacchi, Sant'Andrea de Scaphis, MEGA, Cassina Projects, de Appel, Centrale Fies, Artissima, Vleeshal, Radio alHara, among others. She has participated in residency programs at Forma Arts and Media London, Triennale Milano, MATTATOIO, Lo Schermo dell'Arte, and Teatro India.
