Artists presenting: Alice Minervini, Noha Mokhtar Facilitated by: Fabiola Fiocco
Tuesday 17 June 2025, 06:30PM - 08:30PM @CASTRO Projects
This is the forty-seventh edition of CRITs! The event is open to the public for everyone*!
A CRIT is a meeting where artists present their work, “offering” it for collective critique. The CRIT audience is tasked with observing, immersing themselves as much as possible in the work being presented. The artist briefly introduces the work or project they have chosen, after which the discussion is guided by the contributions of the attendees, who share their perspectives, offer comments or ask questions, sparking a dialogue with the artist. The core of the CRIT is the exchange between the artist and the audience: CRITs hold the value of a collective ritual and can become occasions to negotiate shared values and meanings. CRITs are based on the idea that reflection with a group of “peers” can enhance the artist’s practice, bringing a degree of objectivity to the highly subjective dynamic of the private creative process. Making art is often a solitary pursuit, and it can sometimes be difficult for an artist to assess whether their work is on the right track or if their progress is bringing them closer to their intended goals. The CRIT is an opportunity for the artist to better understand their artistic practice, their work, and themselves.
