GLOBAL TOOLS 1973–1975: When Education Coincides with Life documents and narrates the story of the radical design initiative of the same name and its multidisciplinary program for a “school without students or teachers.” The project began in 1973, founded by groups and individuals from Italian radical architecture, as well as the Arte Povera and conceptual art movements, and concluded in 1975 after three years of intense experimentation. This book serves both as a commentary and a vast visual archive, combining essays by international authors with full reprints—published here for the first time in their entirety—of the Global Tools bulletins, along with many other original documents. It is a unique and definitive volume, marking a crucial step in the rediscovery of one of the most fascinating cultural experiences of late 20th-century Europe.

With contributions by Manola Antonioli and Alessandro Vicari, Valerio Borgonuovo and Silvia Franceschini, Alison J. Clarke, Beatriz Colomina, Maurizio Lazzarato, Franco Raggi, and Simon Sadler.
