Bio tutor

Born in Diyarbakir, Öğüt currently resides in Istanbul and Amsterdam. He received his BA from the Fine Arts Faculty of Hacettepe University in Ankara in 2003, and his MA from the Art and Design Faculty of Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul in 2006. He works with a broad range of media including video, essay documentary, painting, installation, instruction piece drawing and printed media. He is the initiator of ‘The Silent University’, an education platform outside of the restrictions of migration laws, language limitations and the other bureaucratic obstacles. Ahmet Öğüt has been a guest artist at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam in 2007-2008. In 2009, Öğüt represented Turkey with Banu Cennetoğlu at the 53rd Venice Biennale. He exhibited widely, with solo exhibitions in institutions including Van Abbemuseum, State of Concept Athens, Kunstverein Dresden, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Chisenhale Gallery; Berkeley Art Museum; and Kunsthalle Basel. Selected group exhibitions include the 6th Mardin Biennial; Dhaka Art Summit; FRONT International 2022, Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art; 17th Istanbul Biennial, the 7th Liverpool Biennial; the 4th Moscow Biennial; Performa 09 in New York and the 5th Berlin Biennial.
