Ahmet  Öğüt

Born in Diyarbakir, Öğüt currently resides in Berlin, Amsterdam and Istanbul. He received his BA from the Fine Arts Faculty of Hacettepe University in Ankara in 2003, and his MA from the Art and Design Faculty of Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul in 2006.

He works with a broad range of media including video, photography, installation, drawing and printed media. He is the initiator of ‘The Silent University’, a programme for and with asylum seekers, refugees and migrants to give and take courses.

Ahmet  Öğüt has been a guest artist at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam in 2007-2008. In 2009, Öğüt represented Turkey with Banu Cennetoğlu at the 53rd Venice Biennale. He recently had solo exhibitions at MoCA Skopje, Kunstverein Dresden, Van Abbemuseum and Chisenhale Gallery.  Selected group exhibitions include the 17th Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul , the 7th Liverpool Biennial; the 12th Istanbul Biennial; the 4th Moscow Biennial; Performa 09 in New York and the 5th Berlin Biennial.
